Tooth Repair

We approach tooth repair by considering aesthetics, form and the function of your teeth. We want restored teeth to look great but also have longevity and be structurally sound to support the forces of biting, saliva, and chewing. We want tooth replacements to look lifelike and blend in with your natural teeth. Repaired or replaced teeth should feel comfortable and secure in your mouth.
Dr. Powell uses the best technology available and his twenty years of training and expertise will deliver top-quality tooth restorations and replacements that will meet and exceed your expectations.

Dental bonding can repair teeth that are chipped, cracked, decayed or misshapen. The composite bonding material is applied to the tooth, then molded and smoothed. An ultraviolet light is used to harden the composite material. The bonding is then shaped and polished to blend in with the surrounding tooth structure.

A cavity is a hole in your tooth caused by excessive tooth decay that erodes the tooth surface. Cavities will increase in size when left untreated and can cause permanent structural damage to a tooth. In the beginning, a cavity can be painless, but left untreated it will affect the tooth’s nerves and even cause a fracture. You may experience sensitivity to hot o cold food and beverages, headaches, toothache, and abscess. Good hygiene and proper nutrition are the best prevention for cavities, in combination with regular hygiene appointments to help detect cavities in the early stages.

Dental Fillings

If a cavity is small, the tooth can be restored with a filling. We remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill it with either a white composite filling or silver amalgam filling. If a cavity is too large to be filled, a crown may be necessary.

A Crown is a dental restoration that caps a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are needed for badly chipped, cracked, or damaged teeth, or when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. Crowns are made of porcelain, gold, or a combination of both. Crowns take two visits to complete. Impressions are made to personalize a crown for your bite, and then a temporary crown is made, while our dental lab creates a state-of-the-art crown that matches the bite, shape, and color of your existing teeth. The permanent crown is then bonded to your tooth using dental cement.

Root Canal Therapy

A root canal is necessary when nerves and blood vessels (known as pulp) in the tooth become infected and damaged. A dentist removes the infected pulp and nerve in the root of the tooth, cleans and shapes the inside of the root canal, and then fills and seals the space. After it heals, a crown is placed on the tooth to protect it and restore it to its original function

Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are the most effective and long-lasting option for replacing missing teeth. Missing one or multiple teeth can greatly impact your life in a negative way, from limiting the foods you can enjoy to limiting your confidence. Dental implants are a permanent option to replacing missing teeth and have become the top choice because they restore natural function and are esthetically pleasing.
